Blog Lovin: Welcome to the Mouse House

We have yet another amazing blogger to share with you guys today. Welcome to the Mouse House is a craft and sewing blog written by Hayley Crouse, a 33-year-old stay at home Mom with a lot of creativity. Hayley brings so much joy and life to the words of her blog. Each post, reflects her own personal style (which is amazing) while actually keeping it personal. After finishing each post, you feel as if you learned something new about her adorable life and family. She is also not afraid of telling of some of the milestones she has crossed to get where she is. She tells the story of the medical scare that changed her life. We mention this purely because it is a story that shows true strength and inspiration behind the brand she has built! She has been featured in many publications, including West Elm, where her own home was featured within it's pages! What, are you serious, See it here. Needless to say, we love Welcome to the Mouse House and think you will just as much!

Hayley jumped onto our Piper Blog Tour team and did a phenomenal job! Her post features an amazing geometric, chiffon fabric from Michael Levine and it knocked our socks off! Her photography is so superb and we think you guys will go crazy over her final product. So check out her post on her Violette Field Threads Piper Misses. If you don't already go and follow her blog! She has a great Pinterest! You can also find her on Facebook and Instagram

Thank you so much for your participation Hayley, you were so wonderful!

Blog Lovin: Sew Caroline

We LOVE the blog Sew Caroline! We recently met up with Caroline Hulse at Quilt Market and it was so exciting to meet  the voice behind one of our favorite blogs. Caroline's lifestyle blog is based out of Texas and she creates anything and everything homemade. She truly leads a creative lifestyle, we're inspired!

Caroline's blog is the second stop on our Piper Blog Tour. She went with a playful polka dot fabric and incorporated lace to keep the feminine feel of the Piper. It is perfect summer ensemble and we love her photography! Click here to view her post on the creation of her Piper. And if you don't already, start following Sew Caroline. Caroline gets even more inspiring and creative each week! You can also find Mrs. Hulse on Facebook and Pinterest! Thank you for playing Caroline, you look fabulous!

Introducing: Trinket Thursday

We love giveaways! And we love making our readers happy! We are always brainstorming ways to share what we love with our fans. It is the small things that count, right?
That being said we are so excited to introduce a new, fun series called Trinket Thursday! Every Thursday we will upload a new gift we picked out just for one of you! All you have to do is  answer whatever question we come up with that week and post your answer in the Rafflecopter section below this post. In order to be considered your reply needs to be in this comment section not under the link on our Facebook page! But enough of that rule talk, just leave a comment and then Rafflecopter will take it from there! We think this will be a fun, interactive way to keep connected with you guys and have a little fun!
So...our first prizes are two adorable things we picked up while at Quilt Market last week! We found this vintage-inspired, long necklace and fell in love. We also picked up these adorable gold, button studs! We were crazy about both of these pieces and knew we had to give them away. And who better than one of our fans? We hope you love them as much as we do! To be considered click the Rafflecopter link below and leave your reply to the following question:
Who was that special someone who taught you how to sew?

Introducing: Piper Misses

The day has finally come!  We are happy to announce that the Piper pattern is now available in Misses' sizes! The pre-release feedback has been so amazing and we have been so eager for release day to arrive. The Piper pattern is now being offered in women's sizes in both top and dress options.

We are very excited for you too see the hard work that has gone into the drafting of Piper Misses.  We feel that we have taken our pattern drafting to a new level and have included everything you would love to see in a women's pattern including:

* pattern notches to assist in sleeve and front & back placement

* pre-marked gathering lines on the sleeves

* skillfully graded sizing from XXS - XXL

* darts for a more tailored bust.

* lengthen and shorten cut line for ease of adjustments.

Here is an example of the new pattern details:

The features of this pattern will make sewing it up almost as enjoyable as wearing the finished product! We plan to incorporate these new features into our current Women's patterns on the market and updates will be provided to previous purchasers!  We love how our fans continue to inspire us to grow and improve in our talent, thank you for being with us for this incredible journey!

Fiona Sew-Along Part Four- Finishing as a Top

Ok,  i realize that i am sooooo totally behind on this Sew Along!  I am blaming it on quilt market prep :)  I promise i will get caught up!  Check out the new timeline at the end of the post!
Today our Sew Along is for those of you who would like to make your Fiona a top! The Fiona top serves as the perfect fun, summer garment. We are in the final steps now and we are so excited to preview your hard work so soon!
We love all the fabrics we receive and always want to give their creators all the acclaim they deserve! So once again I chose to work working with

chose Little Matryoshka by Riley Blake Designs.

Without any further delay here are the five, simple steps for finishing the Violette Field Threads Fiona top...

1. Sew the ruffle together at one short end. You do not need to finish the seam because it will not show.

2. Fold the ruffle in half lengthwise with the right sides touching and pin to secure at both ends.  Sew together along the pinned ends, the top remains open for turning.
3. Turn the ruffle right side out and iron it flat.  Gather the ruffle up along the top raw edge until it is the exact same width as the bodice.
4. Pin the ruffle to the bodice, line up the finished edges and the side seams.  Sew the ruffle, trim off 1/2 the seam allowance and finish the seam with either a serger or a zig zag stitch.
6. Turn the ruffle down, iron flat and top stitch right along the seam.
6. Sew buttons on the back opposite of the button loops.
7. YOU DID IT!!!

Stay tuned for the rest of our sew-along posts! Here is a schedule for you to look forward too...
