The Kaitlynn is an adorable vintage inspired dress or romper. Kaitlynn features an easy fit bodice with an off the shoulder ruffle flounce and optional shoulder ties. The elastic waist creates a tailored waist and adds just the right amount of volume to the bodice.
Kaitlynn can be made with a full skirt that hits right above the knee or as a romper. The romper version features an asymmetrical ruffle along the shorts hem!

Kaitlynn transforms an old dress
I used the Kaitlynn pattern to transform my daughter’s strappy slip dress from 10+ years ago into a sundress for her 5 year old daughter. I was a bit slow understanding the pattern, but it worked well with reduced fabric in the frill and the skirt, given that the original dress was very small. I’m so pleased I have an overlocker as that made the job much neater. For those who watch the BBC’s Great British Sewing Bea, it felt like I was taking part in the transformation challenge.

Kaitlynn romper
I absolutely think that VFT patterns are the best ever. Not only are they reasonably priced, and then often on sale to boot, but the step-by-step instructions are fahbulous. Kaitlynn was a tad challenging, but only because of my choice of lace which was a tad too full. Otherwise, it was an easy piece to assemble. My granddaughter had requested a romper and was so excited to get this. Thank you, VFT, for these wonderful patterns.

Very clear instructions. A quick sew even for a beginner. I made the romper and the dress version for my 10 year old and it's a big hit even for a fussy tween!

Kaitlynn dress pattern a dream to sew
I have made my granddaughter 4 Katelynn dresses this summer. She gets so many. Compliments when she wears these rompers. And she loves wearing them. Since she is only 2-1/2, there will be more summers making this awesome romper. Maybe a dress or top as well! Love your patterns and this one especially.

My girl loved the off-shoulder look. This pattern comes together easily and beautifully, like most VFT patterns I’ve used. Multiple options also. I recommend this one.
Very cute dress!
This dress is perfect for hot summer weather. I made it using some hoarded Sarah Jane Out to sea fabric which immediately contributed to its rather nautical feel. The ties are very handy especially on younger girls who may not be used to the off the shoulder styles.

Hi I love this pattern the only thing I would like is the option of not having the ruffle shorts leaving them plain which is the way I have made the ones I did but I had to extend the length and straightened the leg off
