For as long as I can remember, I have loved to design. At first, it was for my Barbies and then as I got older if was for me. Sewing and design really grew into a passion for me when I became an aunt and then a mother. I still remember those first feelings of accomplishment, joy and the amazement of seeing my little girl in the clothes that I had lovingly made for her. Happily, that feeling has never disappeared. Violette Field Threads has become my ultimate creative outlet, where I still get to experience the joys of sewing for my daughter and now I also get to experience seeing the joy through other moms, grandmas and aunts eyes as they learn to sew and create for their loved ones. In addition to sewing and design, I also love to travel and spend time with my husband and three children I live in a quaint town in Tennessee, just minutes from my best friend and co-owner of VFT, Jessica.
Much more than a utilitarian skill, to me sewing is a visual expression of creativity and a tangible outworking of love. I learned to sew when my fiancé purchased me my first machine as a surprise. An unconventional gift, and who could have known what that surprise would lead to!
That was over 15 years ago! In 2010, Ericka and I started making our own patterns when we couldn’t find patterns for the designs we sketched out of paper.
We hope to include you in our Violette Field Threads family and teach you to sew and create all sorts of beautiful pieces to fill your little one’s closet.
As a young girl, I started learning to sew while helping my mom make our halloween costumes each year. Fast forward to while I was pregnant with our first born daughter, my husband bought me my own sewing machine so I could reupholster her rocking chair. I quickly re-gained interest in sewing, started following diy bloggers, creating my own patterns and exploring new techniques. As they say, the rest is history! I am thrilled to have joined the stellar team of Violette Field Threads in 2017, where I can now share my skills and creativity with their incredible customers! When I'm not sewing, I am shopping, teaching group exercise classes, co-coordinating a MOPS group and going on adventures with my two beautiful daughters and handsome Marine!
My favorite quote, by Pablo Picasso: "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." I love being able to share my creative gifts with sewists all over the world, and hope to inspire them to pass on what they've learned to the next generation.
About 13 years ago I decided to dig out the sewing machine my mom gave me years earlier. Little did I realize that my career path was about to change. At the time I was working with children as a Physical Therapist Assistant. I always knew I wanted to work with children. My first endeavor in the sewing world was with my Etsy children's clothing shop "My Sweet Sunshine". This soon lead me into pattern testing for VFT. It was such an honor for me to be test with them. I'll never forget when I was asked to join the VFT team. It was literally a dream
come true! With a bunch of excitement and bit of fear it was a big YES. I live in sunny Southern California with my 2 children and husband. I love getting out and traveling and spending time with family and friends. When I'm not working, you can usually find me on my kids soccer field most evenings and weekends.
I had only been sewing children's clothing for 1 year when I was introduced to Violette Field Threads Pattern Company by a friend, and fell in love. Designing has always been a dream of mine, and I'm so proud to be a part of this incredible team. The pleasure I have when creating a design and sewing it up for my daughters, and seeing others do so is indescribable. I also enjoy the photography side of designing, capturing the details of each design is so much fun! I couldn't ask for a more fulfilling occupation. I live in a small country town in Mississippi, along with my three gorgeous daughters. I enjoy the outdoors, photography, and designing of course.
I come from a long line of sewists, but it took me years to get the courage to actually pull out my machine. I taught myself to sew 4 years ago. I am the owner of a small sewing boutique and blog called Lady and the Gents. I love writing and I always have a book in my hands. I help run my local MOPS group. I adore fashion and makeup and keeping up with style trends. I am a WAHM and mama to 4 little kiddos
