A PDF sewing pattern is a digital file (in Portable Document Format) containing the pattern pieces of a garment or project, which can be downloaded and printed at home or at a copy shop, allowing for instant access and flexibility in sewing. When you make a purchase, your patterns are immediately available for download in your account. They are also emailed to you. PDF patterns offer many benefits to paper patterns. They are convenient as they can be purchased and used without ever leaving your home. They are reusable as they can be saved to your computer and reprinted over and over again, which means no more tracing and copying! PDFs are typically more thorough, as they are not limited in length, meaning each step can be detailed and include a picture guide.

You will need a computer with Adobe Reader installed on it. If you do not have Adobe on your computer it can be downloaded for free from Adobe. You will also need a printer.

Yes. All of our pattern pieces are full size and do not require enlarging. Each pattern has a 1" square test box on the first page. This will allow you to ensure accuracy of printing. Some pattern pieces are larger than one sheet of paper. These pages are cut around a dotted line and taped together to form the full pattern piece. Detailed instructions and pictures are included in each tutorial for assembling the pieces.

Our patterns are easy to follow and suitable for all levels of sewers. You will need to know only the most basic sewing skills to complete our patterns. You do not need to have extensive knowledge of sewing terms or techniques. Each tutorial comes with step by step instructions as well as over 40 color photos to clarify each step.

No. Although some may choose to use a serger, our tutorials include instructions for those who do not own a serger. We also offer several accessory patterns that are NO SEW and do not even require a sewing machine.

Yes. All patterns are made and designed by us. They are original patterns. All of our designs are copyrighted, all rights reserved, and are for PERSONAL USE ONLY. This means you may use these patterns for personal use, or a small scale, such as a home business. If you do use these patterns to create items to sell, we request that you please link our shop in your sales listings, giving us credit for the design. However, products from our patterns may not be mass produced outside of the home on a commercial scale. While you are welcome to sell items you make from our patterns, please do not use our pictures to promote your products. We ask that you please use your own photography.

No, we do not allow sharing. Each PDF purchased is copyright protected and may only be used by the purchaser. You may not forward, copy, or distribute the purchased PDFs. You agree to this upon download. Upon purchase, your PDF will be stamped with a your personal name at the footer of each page. Should you decide to distribute your PDF, this information is transmitted along with it. This PDF stamping feature is meant to discourage people from illegally distributing our PDFs, as it will trace the originator.

There are two ways to download your purchases. The first is through your account. Your purchases along with the download links can always be found in your account. If a pattern is ever updated, the most current version will be in your account. Your second opportunity to download your order will come to your email. A link for you to download your pattern(s) from will be emailed to you entitled "Order Confirmation" from Violette Field Threads instantly upon completion of payment. If you are checking out with PayPal, it will be sent to the email address associated with your PayPal account. If you are not using PayPal, but are using your credit/debit card, you will have the opportunity to fill in the email address you wish to have the link sent to. Once your email is received, simply download the pattern(s) from the link onto your computer.

You can always find your patterns in your account. A download link to your patterns is also emailed to you. If you do not see an email, please check your spam and trash email folders. Also be sure you are checking the email account you entered during checkout or the one assigned to your PayPal account. If you still cannot find your email, please contact us directly.
