The Lainey is full of whimsy and perfect for spring and summer!! The bodice features a round yoke with flutter sleeves. The flutter sleeves and yokes connect the rounded front and back bodice. The simple front bodice has a high neck and the back bodice features a keyhole and bow.
Information is also included on how to omit the ruffle sleeve and create a version with only the yoke.
The Lainey has a full gathered circle skirt that can be sewn in dress or top length. The skirt has a natural rise on each side seam and includes instruction for a cute button tab.

Fun, fast sew!
My daughter hates buttons, tight fits and has been very particular about woven dresses. I’ve had lainey on my “to buy,” list for a while and this one seemed to fit the bill the time not only for what I wanted to make but also for her sensory needs in clothing. It was quick to sew up, the size chart was right on the money for fit and it’s just a really cute, flowy dress. Tutorial photos were perfect, to be honest I barely had to actually read the instruction and overall I thought it was just great.

I made two Lainey’s for my granddaughters for Easter. They are beautiful, fit great, and the pattern was a lot easier than it looked. I’m ready for more VFT dresses!!
Beautiful dress
I love this dress with the flutter sleeves and can’t wait to see it on My granddaughter. The pattern was easy to work with with one exception. The dress used in the photos of the sewing steps was very light colored with a pattern and sewn with white thread. Sometimes it was hard to tell what was going on. A solid, rather than print, with contrasting thread would make the steps much more visible. Also, it would be good to know from the very beginning—maybe even front of the pattern, that the skirt will not work on one way prints in the larger sizes.

I made this in 2T for my granddaughter who is wearing 24 months and it was soooo tight. I re-hemmed it and put it on my 6 month old granddaughter who wears 6-9 months. Runs very small

The pattern was very methodically written and easy to follow. It turned out just perfectly despite my stretching the bias tape a little and a few other beginner mistakes, but no one has noticed! I will certainly be trying another pattern from VFT!

I love almost all designs from VFT. I have purchase some designs and this Lainey dress I love the most. However, I always have difficulty on the measurements and fabric requirement since using inch and yards. Here in my country we are not familiar with inch and yards but centimeters. I hope VFT can provide in centimeters as well.
