Penelope is a timeless special occasion dress or playful everyday dress! Penelope features a perfect peter pan collar that extends around to the bodice back. The front bodice has 4 pin-tucked rows and a waist sash with side ties. The back features button closure.
Penelope can either be made sleeveless or has two sleeve options: cap and 3/4 sleeves with bow details, making it the perfect dress year round.
The formal skirt is full and can be comprised of tulle only, tulle & lace, or tulle & fabric. The everyday skirt is also full, but only comprised of one layer of fabric.
Our tutorial features tips for cutting, gathering and sewing with large yardages of tulle. Our technique for attaching and sewing the tulle skirt allows for extremely full skirts without pushing your sewing machine to the limits.

Fun sew!
This was my second time sewing with tulle so Penelope was a big challenge for me. The instructions were clear and using upholstery thread for the final skirt gather did the trick! So happy with the final product!

I made this dress in a size 2T. It’s perfect for my granddaughter and was easy to sew! I did mash up using Elodie sleeve and Isobel ruffle!

A great every day and fancy dress
Over all experience was great, I love the Peter Pan collar and the 3/4 length sleeves for a simple fall dress. If I had to make one suggestion, I would add the option in the tutorial for adding a placket into an existing seam. My finances dictate that I shop for yardage in Second hand bedsheets so I often have a piece large enough to make the average 80” skirt without having two side seems. I had to experiment a bit to add the placket into one seam at the back instead of cutting a fresh placket insert. Yes I could cut two pieces from the yardage to follow the instructions, but I’d rather not do the work for that. Other than that, I really enjoyed the process and love the little pin tuck pleats ❤️

Are used this pattern to make a dress for my niece to wear to the daddy daughter dance with my brother. We went to the fabric store to pick out her fabric together. The dress came together very easily. The instructions were perfectly detailed and clear. I love sewing with patterns from this company. I have about nine patterns and they all have come out very nice! Pictures and illustrations are very helpful, so are the written instructions.

I love this pattern so much!
This is my first make from VFT and I love how easy the instructions are to follow. The dress is amazing. So pretty. I made three for flower girl dresses. I did have struggles with the cap sleeves, but it isn’t pattern related. I used satin and it was hard to get them to lay right. I’m not a very experienced sewist and think with practice, they will be much better. I’m look forward to making more of your patterns.

Lovely dress
