I loved making this top. It is beautiful and I can wait to make the dress as well.
I love VFT tutorials and photos. They’re easy to understand and make sewing so user friendly. I definitely recommend making a sample Harlow with Muslim and then tweaking that same sample again to see make sure it’s sized to you. The measurements are true to size, I would like more for instance the height from your shoulder to natural waistline. I ended up using a size 6 waist/width and size 4 bottom length of the bodice with a size 2 shoulder height and size 6 pleated skirt. I normally wear size 4 store bought clothes.
Overall I am very pleased with the pattern. It is so feminine and flattering! I will definitely be making more now that I’ve figured out what size to make!
I rarely sew for myself, and being very petite but with hourglass figure I struggle to find easy patterns that fit. I went with the standard measurements on my first attempt and the instruction were so easy to follow, and surprisingly quick! As I'm so short (5ft) the waist sat a little low for me, but nothing a belt won't sort. On my second attempt, I shortened the waist and shoulder seam and it fits perfectly! Love this pattern - VFT patterns are so well explained that it gives me added confidence to go further with the pattern and make it tailor made.
I primarily sew for my toddler daughter, so I was terrified to sew for myself. I actually purchased Harlow after attempting to make another similar pattern from another company. It was awful. This pattern is easy to follow! I only wish they used a different fabric for the lining and opened the aperature for the pics. The bodice is a bit loose on me, and I feel the transition from the bust to waist isn't enough. I plan on wearing it with a belt! I'm very small chested, so it's to be expected that the standard bust size wouldn't fit me perfectly. Next time I will make a muslin to tweak.
I was a bit worried before I started, as the fittings for adult patterns are more complicated than children's patterns, but VFT also nailed it for this misses pattern! Love it!!

Lining issues
I have sewn other patterns from VF. His one is not my favorite. The way the lining was sewn with the dress was not good. It made for thick seams and the difficulty of putting 4 pieces of fabric together to sew made for a lot of seam ripping and reseeding. I hope VF will fix the pattern instructions.
No sizing chart
No size chart. Pattern says to use bust measurement, but provides no sizing chart to reflect this. No one sews a new garment by going off their ready-made garment measurements. This needs to be fixed ASAP. No clear instructions for sewing the sleeveless version. Extremely disappointed with this pattern.
Fantastic Top
I loved making this top. It is beautiful and I can wait to make the dress as well.
Pain to print
This pattern company has no a0 files for their patterns, and the pdf’s are locked - which isn’t a big deal for most people, but when you have someone who usually pieces together the pattern for you on a computer to print as an a0, but can’t now because the pdf is locked - it’s incredibly frustrating. I’m excited about this Harlow dress, but I doubt I’ll be buyin from this company again - such a pain and inconvenience!
