I love how fancy this dress looks, yet how simple it is to make. But the true review is from my granddaughters who love to wear these dresses almost as much as I love making them!
The pattern was easy to assemble and the instructions well written. It came up a little small though, and I had to make the size 4 for a little girl who is about to turn 3.
Made 2 dresses for my granddaughters. As the measurements were too tight (Mom’s mistake), the youngest ended up with those 2 and I just finished the one for the oldest.
The measurements seeming still too tight, I went with two sizes larger so she can enjoy her dress longer 😊.
My daughter asked me to make her a Blithe for her primary school
graduation. I have never seen with tulle before and zippers often defeat me however, the instructions were fantastic and the dress turned out amazing.
'- still unused.

Blithe
My daughter asked me to make her a Blithe for her primary school graduation. I have never seen with tulle before and zippers often defeat me however, the instructions were fantastic and the dress turned out amazing.
Loved it
The pattern and instructions were easy to follow and the dress turned out so nicely
Beautiful garment
The Blithe is beautiful! It comes together pretty easily if you follow the directions closely. I’m a self-taught sexist who started in January and I was able to execute the dress well! My daughter loved it!
her most-loved dress
This pattern is well written, easy to follow, and designed so that the finished dress looks like it was complex to create but is actually really simple. I'm an advanced sewist, but avoid clothing like the plague. Really wanted to make this for my 7 y.o. daughter, though, so set out with some trepidation and minimally-loved fabric. When I finished (a surprisingly short time later!!!!), it was total love. Within the week, we'd gone out to buy much-loved fabric for 2 more. I look forward to trying more Violette Field patterns and may have finally caught the clothing pattern bug!
Blithe
Great pattern. I found a couple of steps a little difficult to understand even with the pictures but a more experienced sewer would probably find it much easier. The finish of the dress is beautiful and looks fantastic. I still can’t believe someone like myself made it.
Gorgeous dress and Complicated
It’s a gorgeous dress and I’m so pleased with the end result. However, I wish it came with a 3/4 sleeve option. While I love petal sleeves in general, I don’t think they looked right with this particular dress. Unless you’re trying to create a Disney Princess costume. Otherwise, I think a longer sleeve looks better of this particular dress. That’s just my 2 cents though.
Good pattern, hard to fault, I'm experienced in pdf and paper patterns
I found the pattern well labelled, sized accurately and good pictures in instructions. I struggled a little with the method of the zip amongst many layers and therefore took my own method but I would happily buy vft again and value the individual dress detail.
Favourite pattern
Blithe is my all time favourite dress pattern because you can combine it with other patterns (e.g. Marissa) in no time and it looks always special and amazing.
Beautiful and easy sew!
Pattern was very easy to follow and went together quickly. Niece calls it her princess dress! ❤️
Lovely pattern
Even though it is cotton fabric pattern, I've manage to sew it with knits (jersey). Instructions are easy to understand and really lovely pattern.
Unique dress pattern with amazing results!
I LOVED this pattern! I have to admit I had my doubts. I had never installed a zipper before and this dress had so many pattern pieces I wasn't sure I could do it but the directions are so fantastic and the construction is SO good that I was able to have fantastic results all while learning new skills! Overalll a really fantastic pattern for a really fantastic company!
This isn’t my favorite
I really DO love VFT!! I own more of your patterns than I should admit and eagerly anticipate the new ones. However, Blithe wasn’t my favorite sew. I felt it was bulky, somewhat difficult to follow the directions on & I wasn’t thrilled with the outcome. I have been sewing nearly 25 years, so this wasn’t my first try. Sorry, Y’all!, I just wasn’t wowed by miss Blithe. ♀️
Perfection
This is now my go to dress pattern. It’s easy to understand, seams are gorgeous and finished, it has drama and whimsy in one adorable dress
Blithe dress review
This was a great pattern. Well written, clearly explained. Even though some of the steps were a little tricky they were easy enough to follow and the dress ended up perfect.
The perfect cinderella dress
The pattern was easy to assemble and the instructions well written. It came up a little small though, and I had to make the size 4 for a little girl who is about to turn 3.
Tulip sleeves
I made an Abigail dress for a Flower girl dress and wanted a little sleeve but not a puff sleeve. I used this pattern because I love Tulip sleeves for girls that are 7-8 ("and don't want a baby sleeve") It was perfect!
