This was a quick and easy sew. Directions were clear and easy to follow. My daughter was very excited to wear it for her special event.
The girl I made it for was super pleased and I must say the overall fit and style are really good. Nevertheless, I had to change the finishing touch on the body of the dress. I entirely lined it in an invisible way (like a all-in-one facing). I also sewn the rest of the dress using french seams.
I’m hoping to make this in the next few months.
Was hoping this was going to be a quick sew, but after a couple of hours I gave up and converted it to a skirt. Would prefer to have a lined bodice, than finish with a bias trim.
I have purchased VFT patterns in the past and loved them, this one did not disappoint. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The dress design is a hit with my 14yo daughter. She has autism and adhd and is a little immature for her age. She is an awkward size due to a large bust and waist, plus short inseam and still loves juvenile clothing. She has out grown children’s sizing, but with beautiful fun patterns like the Clover dress, we can make exactly what she likes. I did have to decline her request for a Care Bear flannel fabric for this project ,) We settled on a lovely bright pink floral woven cotton. I shortened the skirt and ruffle length, also raised the side seams to close the armholes a bit. I suspect we will make more of these.

Simple dress, complicated bodice

Matilda dress
I haven't made the clover yet Still searching for the perfect material. I've made the Matilda dress and it was super easy. Not a fan of cotton however. I prefer a more drapey material but my daughter loves it.
