We've saved the best for last.  This past week, we have introduced you to all of our new patterns and showed you an in depth look at each one.  Today we are ready to show off our most exciting and glamorous pattern yet!

We knew that when we named a pattern Violette, it needed to be breathtaking and like nothing else we've ever done before.  

We are beyond excited to introduce you to Violette.  In sizes 12months-10, this dress is one that will impress everyone who lays eyes on it.

Violette is an absolute show stopper, and with many different options, it is a dress that you can many over and over again, each one looking different  than the last.

This past week we have introduced you to 2 new top patterns and our updated outwear pattern.  Today you will meet out newest short pattern that will have you running to the store in search of the cutest tights and boots you can find!

We are pleased to welcome Fawn to the Violette Field Threads family!  Fawn is an adorable pleated from short that ranges in sizes 2-9/10.

We love Harlow for ladies.  This pattern with the ruffled collar and flutter or cap sleeve options quickly became a wardrobe staple! 

We adore it so much for ourselves we knew our little ladies were missing out.

We are so ecstatic with the warm welcome you all have given our newest release, Genevieve.  Every version has blown us away!  From everyday chic to holiday glam, your creations have been inspirational!

Do you love the look of the top overlay made from lace, but are unsure how to keep the original scalloped bottom edge but still have the drape of a bias cut? We have received quite a few messages asking how to do this! Today is your lucky day!  Follow these easy step-by-step instructions on how to showcase your gorgeous lace fabric for your next Genevieve!

• Print out two copies of the flounce front and attach them at the fold line. Having a full flounce piece will help in making the adjustments while giving a good visual. 

• Measure along the bottom edge of the flounce pattern piece to determine how much lace is needed. You will have extra so don’t worry about being super precise.

• Lay out the lace and cut above a few inches above the finished hem. For this particular lace, the scalloped edge is about 2". Make sure to add a seam allowance at the top. I chose ½" seam allowance.

• Place your lace hem onto the flounce front bodice. Because the flounce bottom hem would have been hemmed 1/4" + 1/4", for a total of 1/2", you'll need to overlap the bottom edge of the lace by 1/2". Now, mark along the side of the flounce front pattern piece 1/2" down from where the top raw edge of the lace is. This is where the new bottom of the flounce front will be. By measuring 1/2" down from the top raw edge of the lace, you are taking into account the seam allowance that will be lost when you attach the lace to the new bottom raw edge of the flounce front piece. 

• Measure across the entire front of the flounce piece using the marking you just made keeping it even all the way across. Cut along that line.

• Position the flounce front (on the bias) onto your lace fabric. Be careful of positioning if you are using a large lace print, as shown, and maximize the amount of lace on the pattern piece. Ensure the grainline is running perpendicular to the bottom edge of your lace. Cut out the flounce front.

• Align the lace hem to the flounce front piece, right sides together and pin to attach. Leave the excess lace on either side of the flounce front bodice. Sew to attach.

• Because this netted lace does not fray, finishing the seam is not required. Trim the seam allowance. If you are sewing with a fabric that needs a finished seam, a french seam is recommended. Using a cool iron, press your front flounce and lace hem, gently easing the hem onto the flounce. Cut the excess lace hem in alignment with the original front flounce piece.  

If you are feeling adventurous, you can cut your lace hem along the scallops and then reattach.  This is the best way to keep the drape and the scallop, but it is more time consuming and much more tedious than the above steps.  

If your lace has a nice drape, you could even cut with the grain and add a few darts under the arms to bring the sides up.  

And there you have it!  An easy way to use that beautiful scalloped lace you've been holding onto while maintaining the perfect drape of a bias cut!  We look forward to seeing lots of gorgeous scalloped Genevieves!  Make sure to share your lovely creations over on our FB page!  

There are some fabric lines that speak to you, and the newest line by Dodi Lee Poulsen for Riley Blake Designs, did just that!  

Meet Lulabelle.  This line has some for everyone.  From whimsical birds and birdcages to geometric prints, Lulabelle is the perfect fabric for home decorating, quilting, and even clothing.  The sophisticated whimsy will have you ohhing and ahhing!

When I first set eyes on this line, I immediately fell in love.  I adore the mix of prints and the colors are so inviting.  I was instantly drawn to the navy colorway, but knew I would end up mixing and matching among all the fabrics.  With 3 gorgeous colorways, there is something that will tickle everyone's fancy.

I decided on  Lulabelle main in navy, Lulabelle medallion in navy, Lulabelle bowtie in mint, and Lulabelle scallops in navy.   I wanted to show how easily all of the colorways worked together.

I instantly knew the perfect pattern for these lovely fabrics.  The Sophia skirt met all the criteria for showing off multiple fabrics!

I adore this pattern because not only is it fast and fun to make, it is perfect for any season!

Pair is with tights and boots in the fall and winter, or throw on a cute tee and sandals in the spring and summer!  Nothing beats a garment that can be worn year round.

The patchwork skirt is a wonderful way to show off many different fabrics.  Instead of an ruffle along the bottom of the skirt, I chose to use an accent band.  I wanted to show how lovely the mint bowtie fabric is against the 3 navy fabrics.

Riley Blake Designs fabrics once again far exceed all expectations.  They are beyond dreamy to work with and sew up beautifully.  The soft and supple quality make working with these fabrics heaven.

Last week we gave you a sneak peek at the newest VFT pattern.  Today we are over the moon excited to be bringing to you the first pattern from Violette Field Threads designer, Alexis Wright.  Alexis knocked it out of the park on this design.  We are pleased to give you {Genevieve}.

Genevieve is a gorgeous vintage inspired dress for sizes 2-10.  Inspired by a cropped top dress and flounced sleeve, the bias cut flounced bodice has a vintage yet modern feel that harks back to fashion icons like Jackie O.

While the front bodice is gorgeous, the back is just as stunning.  With a buttoned back, this is the perfect opportunity to show off the vintage buttons you've been holding onto.  

The skirt placket gives the dress an easiness to get on and off, and directions are clear and concise, making construction just as easy.
