Little Pink Blanket
Today's sponsor is all about the girly girls!! We are so pleased to introduce you to the darling boutique Little Pink Blanket!!
Little Pink Blanket is an adorable online boutique full of darling looks for every little girl. They offer beautiful hair accessories, ruffled legwarmers, tutus and boutique clothing for any occasion. Tanya and Tara the owners of Little Pink Blanket have a pulse on what little girls want to wear and this shop is sure to please even the pickiest fashionista!
We had a chance to speak with Tanya and ask her how she and her sister got started, here is their story:
My sister Tara and I decided a little more than a year ago that we really wanted to do something to try to earn a little more income for our families. We each had three girls at the time ranging in ages from 3 months to 10 years. So, we started out making hair bows and clips, then moved onto headbands, tutus, legwarmers, ruffled leggings, and eventually clothing. We have each had another baby since then (me a boy and her another girl), and I'm expecting another girl in May so we have plenty of models!! We love coming up with new things all the time and doing custom orders that are new and different!
Here are just a few of their adorable headbands and hairclips!!
We love these sweet dresses!!
Little Pink Blankets plans to continue expanding their inventory even more in 2013!!
Our plans for 2013 are to grow our business more and to start a blog!

Pink Chalk Fabrics
Today we are honored to showcase...
At Pink Chalk you will find everything you need for any sewing project. They offer premium fabrics, ribbon, notions, and of course patterns. Kathy, the owner, has a knack for choosing modern and classic designs for her shop and the customer service is truly amazing!
Amy Butler Ribbon, Lizzy House Pearl Bracelets in 26 colors
Do you ever feel nervous about ordering fabric online, wondering if the colors truly match? Pink Chalk also offers a brilliant color matching service. They are available by phone to help you match prints + solid colors together, and to offer any requested advice the project you are working on! It takes all of the guess work out of ordering.
We asked Kathy to tell us how she started this wonderful shop, and here is what she had to say:
In 2006, I began writing about my quilting, sewing and crafting adventures on a blog I named Pink Chalk Studio. I was a stay-at-home mom and was elated to discover the inspiring world of online craft bloggers. With the encouragement of the online community of sewists I'd met through my blog, I published my first sewing pattern in 2007. I launched Pink Chalk Fabrics the following year.
The company is now a full time business with 7 employees operating out of a 2,600 SQF commercial work space on Bainbridge Island, Washington. While the surroundings are a long way from the spare bedroom in which it began, a true love of sewing and sharing the craft continues to drive the mission of Pink Chalk Fabrics.
The shop features quality natural fibers for quilting and sewing with a good selection of knits and Liberty Tana Lawn for apparel sewists.
Amy Butler Alchemy Fairy Tale,Josi Severson Organic Cotton Jersey Knit, Liberty of London Tana Lawn
I'm especially proud of our extensive offering of solids that include Kona Cottons, Free Spirit Designer Solids, Michael Miller Cotton Couture Solids, and Moda Bella Solids. We provide color matching of solids to popular designer collections and also field requests from customers. The results are shared on our blog and Facebook page – one of our most popular series!
We stay connected to our customers through a weekly newsletter, a Saturday feature of a customer sewing project, Facebook posts, and the Pink Chalk Studio Blog which will celebrate 7 years in March.
Pink Chalk Studios also offers free patterns to download directly from the website! Look at his beautiful Infinity Scarf Pattern that is available now.
Here is what Kathy and the Pink Chalk team has in store for 2013:
We're always up to something new around here and 2013 will be no different. Everyone that works at Pink Chalk Fabrics is an idea generator. We often take a single inspiring thought and have it implemented the following week. It keeps things fresh and fun for us and our customers! In the coming months look for a new monthly solids club, new Pink Chalk Studio pattern designs, and our first ever sew along.
Kathy of Pink Chalk is so generously donating 3 awesome gift cards to our 5k giveaway! One Ultimate Prize Sewist will receive a $50.00 gift card! Two more Grand Prize Sewists will receive $25.00 gift cards.

Carina Gardner
We are over joyed to have the AMAZINGLY talented Carina Gardner to talk about today!! Carina Gardner was very inspirational to us when we first started designing as Violette Field Threads and we were definitely a little starstruck when we met her at Spring Quilt Market last year!! She was so sweet and made us feel right at home in her gorgeous booth!
Carina and her daughters
Carina's flawless style and skillful design is reflected in everything she does, and she has one impressive resume! Carina is designer and owner of Carta Bella Paper Company, she designs fabric lines with Riley Blake, has her own line of adorable sewing patterns and designs digital scrapbook products.
Here are some gorgeous scrapbook paper for Carta Bella Paper Company.
Look at these precious sewing patterns:
Rini Doll & Mermaid, Garden Party Outfit, Dainty Blossoms Sling
We asked Carina how she got started designing and this is what she told us:
Creativity is an integral part of Carina’s life! She has always loved working with her hands—creating beautiful things out of fabric and paper. As a child she would break the needle on her mom’s sewing machine making barbie dresses, hide in the closet writing plays, and doodle to her heart’s content. As an adult, she tries very hard to include beauty in her life whether with her three children, in her designs, or home.
Look at some of her gorgeous fabrics!!
They also have very exciting plans for 2013:
I have two fabric lines coming out for Riley Blake. The first is called Remember and will be in shops April 2013. My second line is a black and white line and will come out in the fall 2013. I have a line of dish ware coming out in April 2013 for Deseret Book. I also plan on premiering new sewing patterns in May for Quilt Market. I am also opening a new online shop in February with online classes and my new line of wallpapers.
Carina is donating an AMAZING PRIZE to our Ultimate Prize Sewist that is valued at $100! One lucky winner will win a Fat Quarter Pack of her Dainty Blossoms fabric line as well as 2 Fabulous Carina Gardner Sewing Patterns.
Please be sure to leave some love below for Carina Gardner!!!!!!!
Only 9 more days until the start of The 5k Fans Giveaway!!!!!!!

Shabby Fabrics
Today we have the absolute pleasure of introducing to you the wonderful fabric/notions/patterns web store that is Shabby Fabrics! The ladies at Shabby Fabrics, namely Jennifer and Julie, have been such a pleasure to work alongside. We first met at the Spring International Quilt Market last Spring. They were a joyous group, kind and happy to lend us newbies years of experience and advice. We were instantly taken with their welcoming disposition, and have felt like friends from the start!!
Shabby Fabrics is an online QUILT shop specializing in beautiful floral and feminine fabric, exceptional quilt kits, and a wide variety of Block of the Month programs and Clubs. They also carry over 1,000 patterns, and have a nice selection of "Shabby Exclusive" patterns, designed in studio at Shabby Fabrics. Shabby Fabrics is owned by Jennifer Bosworth.
Look at this beautiful quilt designed by Jennifer herself!
They also have gorgeous collections of fabrics.
They have such an eye for elegant, feminine fabrics.
When we come across such beautiful websites, it's not surprising that there are beautiful people behind them.
We asked Jennifer to share a little bit about herself, and here is what she had to say:
Every since I was little, I loved making things. If the craft involved scissors, glue, or glitter I was a happy girl! In my early twenties, a friend introduced me to quilting. I so wanted to buy all the beautiful fabrics I saw but simply couldn't afford them. I was pursuing a career in aviation and my flying lessons were exceedingly expensive. The attraction to quilting would simply have to wait! The years went by as I worked at the commuter airlines logging experience and barely getting by financially. Finally, I was hired at a major airline, and I could now afford quilting! Before long, I was completely hooked!
The events of September 11, 2001 changed everything. Soon thereafter, the airlines began furloughing pilots and I found myself out of work! Piloting jobs were non-existent. After much prayer and contemplation, God gave me the confidence and vision to reinvent myself. I started a business selling fabrics online and eventually started designing quilt patterns. Today, Shabby Fabrics is a successful online entity in the quilting world. It's a privilege to work with such wonderful people and be around all these beautiful and inspiring fabrics every day.
Warmest Wishes,
Jennifer
Isn't it great to know about the people behind all of these awesome sites? We think it's so great that even with the convenience of online ordering, the personal connections aren't lost!
We asked Shabby Fabrics what plans they have for 2013, and here is what they had to say:
We just moved our business to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and it has been a very big event – so we are looking forward to a quieter year in 2013! However, we will be making appearances at several quilt shows this year: Road to California in January, Sew Expo in February/March, and the International Quilt Festival in October. We are also working on several new block of the month programs that we are very excited about. One of which is the Celebrate the Year Mystery BOM, a design created right here at Shabby Fabrics which is a free pattern download! The downloads for this BOM can be found here: http://www.shabbyfabrics.com/

You Can Make This - January Edition
We are beyond excited that You Can Make This.com is one of our sponsors!!!! We are sure most of you have heard of this spectacular web store, and for those of you that have not, we apologize in advance for this new addiction! :)
You Can Make This offers what has to be one of the largest collections of PDF patterns on the internet. They carry patterns for practically everything and are stacked with cool features like instant download, your personal pattern library, and free patterns. It really is an amazing site!
We asked You Can Make This.com how the owner Kim got started, here is her inspirational story:
The background story of YouCanMakeThis.com isn't widely known. In 2005, our founder, Kim Christopherson, was busy sewing personalized name pillows for customers buying boutique items on eBay. The pillows were very popular and soon she was swamped with orders, sewing every night in the combination sewing room and baby nursery in her home. Kim's husband, Ryan, came to her one late night and said, "what if you sold the instructions for how to make those pillows, instead of making them all yourself?" At first Kim wasn't sure. But, after some thought she decided to publish her pattern to sell on eBay. After a few months of that, she realized there were some drawbacks to selling downloads on eBay and decided to create a website built for pattern downloads. And the idea for YouCanMakeThis.com was born.
Kim had friends in the eBay boutique community that were also swamped hand-making items. So, she recruited them to join her and YouCanMakeThis.com. Kim recognized that many new to sewing had using traditional patterns, so she stressed creating detailed, step-by-step guides with lots of pictures to show how to do everything. These detailed "eBook" guides (PDF documents) could easily be downloaded and used by anyone with a computer and internet connection. Guides were created, a website was made and YouCanMakeThis.com was launched in the summer of 2006 with about 12 authors.
We are certainly happy that YCMT is here! Check out some of the exciting patterns they offer!
Terrific Tee-Pees $8.95, Tree Hugger Draw-String Bag $6.00, Sweet Child Coin Purse $6.50, Mini-Sweater Boots $3.50
Princess Party Matching Game & Goodie Bag $5.50
You Can Make This has exciting plans for growth in 2013:
YouCanMakeThis.com has been evolving over the years to provide the very best online pattern shopping experience possible. Throughout 2013, watch for more enhancements to the website and exciting new pattern designers.
You Can Make This also has a really cool feature where anyone can upload pictures of items they have made using patterns purchased from youcanmakethis.com. It's called "I MADE THIS". It's really great to see how others have sewn up a pattern and what the outcome looked like. It's great to see the fabric combinations that other people have come up with, and their opinions on patterns. It's also nice to be able to connect with other sewers! :)
Did you know You Can Make This.com carries Violette Field Threads PDF Patterns???
We are delighted that You Can Make This is donating 3 gift cards for this amazing web store. One Ultimate Prize Sewist will receive a $50.00 gift card! Two more Grand Prize Sewists will receive $25.00 gift cards. YAY!!!!

Girl Charlee
We have another SPECTACULAR sponsor to introduce you to today!! Can you believe we have Girl Charlee to offer?? Girl Charlee is one of the *premier* places to buy knits online. Heather offers knit, and only knit, so as you can imagine, her inventory is fabulous. Stripes, prints, solids, chevrons and more can be found at Girl Charlee. Before we discovered Girl Charlee, we had often thought there was a huge gap in the market for amazing knits. Well, she's filled that void!
We asked Heather to let us in on her how she got started, and what Girl Charlee is all about. Here is what she has to say:
Girl Charlee was born from a love of vintage fabrics and started as a children's clothing line in 2006. After learning first hand how hard it is to find quality knit fabrics that are soft, have just the right hand and stretch, and are not prints that you have seen everywhere else, the idea of creating a fabric store that specializes in knit only and Girl Charlee Fabrics was launched! I only source fabrics of the highest quality and offer them for the lowest possible prices. We offer only the highest quality hand selected cotton lycra, cotton jersey, cotton ribbed and other specialty knits along with exclusive prints from our own Girl Charlee Fabrics. We will be expanding our product range to include knit specific sewing patterns by independent designers as well as our own pattern line in early 2013.
Lets check out a few of her amazing knits in (eek!) Chevron and Stretch Ruffles!
Here is what Girl Charlee has planned for 2013:
Our blog launch is in January. We are offering tutorials on sewing with knits as well as feature spotlights on customers, vendor partners, and more!
Knit Patterns. Will be partnering with select independent sewing pattern designers to offer sewing patterns for sale specifically for knits. Will also be releasing the Girl Charlee line of sewing patterns for knits in mid 2013.
New Girl Charlee Fabric collection arriving soon is called Lodestar. These six new unique designs have a little something for everyone, including three new colors of our famous Girl Charlee chevron print in Eggplant, Deep Teal, and Chartreuse on both cream and white cotton jersey blend knits. The Lodestar Floral is a gorgeous modern intricate design that melds all our palette and is the perfect scale for all applications and includes a coordinating fuchsia with cream dot and 1/2" Teal and Chartreuse stripe on a lux cotton spandex.
In February we will be offering our Making Strides Pink Chevron on White and Pink Chevron on Pink from which we will be donating part of the proceeds of every sale to breast cancer research.
Heather's Color Trend for Spring/Summer 2013
Jessica and I love to sew with knits. We especially adore striped knits, like we used for our Olive.
Do you own the Olive PDF pattern?
Have you been wanting to recreate this look? Well Girl Charlee has the perfect black and white stripe!
We are so pleased say that Girl Charlee is donating 3 gift cards to her awesome shop. One Ultimate Prize Sewist will receive a $50.00 gift card! Two more Grand Prize Sewists will receive $25.00 gift cards. Woooo-hooo!!!!!
