Wallpaper from Hawthorne Supply Co. + a giveaway!

Have you ever worked with wallpaper before? Before this, we hadn't. We were inspired to take the leap once our favorite fabric source, Hawthorne Supply Co., launched a new peel-and-stick wallpaper product. This is not the same wallpaper from the 80s that I remember as I child. No, wallpaper is cool again. And it's easy. Hawthorne has ingeniously converted some of their most gorgeous fabric designs into wallpaper. We are so in love.

Isobel Hack {Elastic Back Bodice}

Hello VFT blog readers! Ashley here, long-time tester for Violette Field Threads, with a little hack to the Isobel dress pattern. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we all share a huge love for the Isobel pattern. It is so timeless and adorable that when I first saw it, it was definitely love at first sight. If your child is anything like mine, they are independent and like to get themselves dressed and a dress that buttons up the back cramps their style. Or maybe you just haven't quite got the whole button thing down yet. Either way, I have come up with a little hack to the Isobel pattern to put in an elastic panel at the back in place of the buttons. I've listed out below the step-by-step directions. You'll want to have your Isobel pattern pieces and tutorial handy, as you'll still be using both.

Swimwear with Raspberry Creek Fabrics Swim Blog Tour

When I was asked to participate in the Raspberry Creek’s Suit up for Summer Swim Blog Tour, I didn't want to turn it down but I have a very neglected blog with no readers, so I did!  However, Ericka and Jessica convinced me to give it a shot and were kind enough to let me be a guest on the VFT blog!  As many of you know, I love to sew swim fabric!  I think there is something very gratifying about making a swimsuit.  I have become slightly obsessed with swim fabric and have more stashed away than anyone could need.  I do have my favorites, and Raspberry Creek is one of them.....

{Introducing} Vintage Study Hall Collection: Harper & Lulu

{Introducing} Vintage Study Hall Collection: Harper & Lulu

Hey friends!!! We're back with another stellar release of girls & tweens patterns just perfect for Back to School sewing!!!

Today we'll take a look at the Vintage Study Hall Collection: Harper & Lulu. Check back tomorrow for more inspiration and information about the Modern Playground Collection: Tatum & Kensley. Be sure to read all the way through both posts, as there may be something special for you at the end!!!

The Vintage Study Hall collection was designed to fit the Violette Field Threads style of sweet details, vintage charm and of course great showcasing of your favorite fabrics!

Harper

Harper is a dolman style bodice with optional rounded collar and vintage style neckline. The waist darts of the bodice bring a tailored look to the often boxy shape of a dolman bodice.

The skirt features optional pockets perfect for storing treasures! To really bring in a vintage touch, the girls pattern includes an optional waist sash that really sets off the look with some piping trim!

Harper is also great for your tween- giving a mature and classic look.

Harper can be sewn as a special occasion dress as shown by two of our testers here.

Or, Harper can be sewn in quilting cotton for a more everyday look.

Lulu

Lulu is a high-waisted full circle skirt pinafore. The straps can be secured with a ribbon tie or a button tab.

The skirt closure is a simple zipper. Lulu layers beautifully with Harper or your other favorite VFT dresses.

Your little girl will love the twirl factor that Lulu brings!

Lulu for tweens is all the rage on Pinterest and with favorite IG style bloggers. A high waisted skirt is super in trend, and the circle skirt creates a slim waist with a full hemline for a really flattering shape.

We hope you'd love getting a closer look at the Vintage Study Hall collection. Come back tomorrow for the Modern Playground.
